Maintenance Apprenticeship

  • A maintenance member develops and maintains equipment so our manufacturing team can produce the Toyota Corolla to perfect standards every time, on time.

  • Training in our Burnaston academy, you will learn and develop the technical skills and theory required to become a competent member of our maintenance team.

  • Some skills you will learn include welding, machining, hand tool use, robotics and electronics!

Within your 44 month apprenticeship, you will spend time learning in our Toyota academy with our world leading trainers. They will support you in developing the skills you require to become a competent maintenance member.


You will complete offsite training to develop your teamwork, communication and planning through various outdoor activities.


You will also spend time in the classroom learning the theory behind the practical work you undertake – this is science and mathematics based.

What will you do?

Stage 1

For the first 22 months you train mainly in the Toyota Academy onsite, with some placement weeks within Toyota manufacturing and maintenance departments.

Stage 2

The final 22 months, you will mainly be based in your home department at Toyota learning how to practically apply and develop your new skills in a real work environment.

You should be able to engage with and enjoy the theoretical side of the course, which has a maths and science base

Qualification

You will work towards recognised level 3 maintenance qualifications

Requirements

Qualifications required: to apply you must have or be expecting 4 GCSE at grade ‘4’ or above including Maths, English and Science (or equivalent).

Salary and Benefits

Your Development at Toyota Manufacturing UK

Basic Salary :- £13,391 rising with annual increments to £33,476 upon successful completion off 44 month scheme

Where overtime is worked, this will attract a payment as follows:
Mon-Fri - Time and one third for first 2 hours, time and one half thereafter
Saturday - Time and one half
Sunday - Double time

There will be two plant shutdowns each year (a fortnight in August and a week at Christmas) and you will be required to take holiday at these times.
You will then be able to use your remaining holiday entitlement at your discretion provided this is authorised by your Supervisor.

A free workwear allowance is provided to all new Members. Options are also available to purchase additional items at a discounted rate should this be required.

We have three subsidised restaurants on-site serving a wide range of foods. One of our restaurants serves a Japanese dish every day. A restaurant facility is provided in the apprentice development centre.
