  1. What will the arrangements be for my first day ?
    You will have previously been sent confirmatory details for your first day. You will be met by a Member of the Recruitment Team who will welcome you to Toyota Manufacturing UK.
    You will be required to have your photograph taken, which will form your identity pass. You will need to use this to get around site (via the security barriers) and must be shown on entering the building.
    We operate a cashless system on-site, so an identity pass must be used to pay for refreshments and meals throughout the day. Please bring some money with you to load onto your card.
    You will also meet with a member of the payroll team who will confirm that we have all the necessary documentation to enable entry onto the payroll system.
    You will be scheduled onto an Induction course so that you can become familiar with Toyota Manufacturing UK’s ways of working.
    You will then be collected by a member of your department where your career at Toyota Manufacturing UK will commence.

  2. How is my Salary paid ?
    Your salary is paid directly into your bank account, by credit transfer. It is paid on the last working day of each month. Any overtime is paid one month in arrears.

  3. What shall I wear on my first day ?
    We will have ordered your workwear in preparation for your first day.
    However, until your workwear is provided, we ask that you wear smart, casual clothing.

  4. How do I get to Toyota Manufacturing UK if I don’t have a car ?
    Unfortunately, our site at Burnaston is not served by public transport, so Members are responsible for making their own arrangements to get to and from work.
    Our Deeside Plant that is served by a shuttle bus. More information can be obtained during the recruitment process.

  5. Do I have to do exercises in the morning ?
    Production team members do conduct some warm-up activity prior to start of shift to enable them to prepare for the physical nature of work, however this is not necessary for office areas.

  6. What sort of hours can I expect to work on my first day ?
    At Burnaston, you would expect to start at 07.45hrs and finish at 16.18hrs approximately.
    At Deeside, you would expect to start at 07.30hrs and finish at 16.03hrs approximately.

  7. What are the hours of work ?
    The basic working week at Burnaston will be 39 hours. For your information, the current working pattern will be arranged as follows, Monday to Friday:
    Day Shift
    1st Period 08:00 -12:15
    Lunch 12:15 -12.45
    2nd Period 12.45 -16:18
    The Deeside start and finish times are half an hour earlier than the pattern shown above. With prior agreement from your Section Manager, you can start earlier 07:00hrs or later (09.00hrs), your finish time is then adjusted accordingly.

  8. Will I be required to work overtime ?
    There is some requirement to work overtime at Toyota Manufacturing UK to ensure that projects are delivered on time. Overtime is recorded on a daily basis and monitored to ensure a sensible level is undertaken.

  9. Do you consider applicants who require a work permit ?
    Most of our vacancies are unlikely to attract a work permit. Applications from candidates who require a permit to work in the UK may not be considered if there are a sufficient number of other suitable applicants.

  10. Is there an opportunity to look around the plant or come in for a visit before I start ?
    This can be arranged with your Department, once an offer of employment with Toyota Manufacturing UK has been made.

  11. What opportunities are there to travel ?
    Some of our roles involve supplier visits across Europe, others require you to visit some of the European plants. Please ask for clarification at your first interview as travel is very much based on the specific job that you have applied for.

  12. How long will it take me to apply on line ?
    To register your details and create your Toyota CV should take approximately 1 hour.

  13. When will I hear back from you regarding my application?
    After submitting your online application, you will hear back from us to confirm receipt of your application within 2 working days. If you are successful at this stage, you will subsequently be invited to the first stage of the recruitment process, which will be an interview.

  14. Would I have to complete a probationary period if offered a position?
    Yes. The probationary period would be the first 3 months with Toyota Manufacturing UK. You will be regularly reviewed during this time.

  15. What if I apply for a contract role ?
    We do offer contract roles for Administrators, Specialists and Engineers at Toyota Manufacturing UK. The benefits that you will be entitled to will be detailed in your contract. Where the business requires and dependent on performance, a contract member may be offered a permanent role.
