This will depend on where there vacancies are required. Sometimes we take candidate’s prior experience into consideration, although this is not necessary as we train all our members in-house for the specific processes required.
Back to top - What are the breaktimes and lunchtimes ?
You will have two 10 minute breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Lunchbreak is 30 minutes.
Back to top - If offered a position, would I go straight onto shifts ?
Yes, though you may be required on days initially, to enable appropriate training to take place prior to beginning your specific process training.
Back to top - Will I always work on shifts ?
There are limited opportunities for some production members to work in projects for a period of time, which can be on day shift. This is where members may use their skills and experience to work on new models/projects that may be introduced in the future.
Back to top - Will I be expected to work overtime ?
There will be a requirement for overtime both post shift and sometimes at weekends. Overtime post-shift is compulsory. We aim to communicate this by afternoon break. We try and provide as much notice as possible for weekend overtime, however, it can sometimes be at short notice.
Back to top - If I require a work permit or I am dependent on another person’s work permit (eg: spouse) to work in the UK, am I eligible to apply for the Production Team Member role ?
Most of our vacancies are unlikely to attract a work permit. Applications from candidates who require a permit to work in the UK may not be considered if there are a sufficient number of other suitable applicants.

To register your details and create your CV should take approximately 1 hour.
Back to top - Will I be able to change or update my application once it has been submitted?
Once you submit your online application, you will not be able to edit or revise your application. You will only be able to update your account information (e-mail, name, telephone no. etc) by returning to the website and logging in.
Back to top - When will I hear back from you regarding my application?
After submitting your online application, you will hear back from us to confirm receipt of your application within 2 working days. If you are successful at this stage, you will subsequently be invited to the first stage of the recruitment process, which will be an on-line assessment which will take place at our Burnaston or Deeside facility.
Back to top - What should I wear to my interview ?
For the on-line assessment the dress code is casual. You will be seated for most of the time, so you need to wear something in which you are comfortable. The second stage, is the Day at Work assessment which will involve a number of production exercises, so again casual dress is recommended. Jeans, t-shirt, and trainers are suitable. For the final interview, formal dress is required, as you will be interviewed by an HR professional. Should you be required to conduct a medical, appropriate dress should be worn ie: T-shirt, trainers, track suit bottoms for example.
Back to top - Is it true that I will have to do exercises before I start my shift ?
Production team members do conduct some warm-up activity prior to start of shift to enable them to prepare for the physical nature of their work.
Back to top - How do I get to Toyota Manufacturing UK if I don’t have a car ?
Unfortunately, our site at Burnaston is not served by public transport, so members are responsible for making their own arrangements to get to and from work.
Our Deeside plant that is served by a shuttle bus. More information can be obtained during the recruitment process.
Back to top - How is my salary paid ?
Your salary is paid directly into your Bank Account, by credit transfer. It is paid on the last working day of each month. Any overtime is paid one month in arrears.
Back to top - Would I have to complete a probationary period if offered a position?
Yes. The probationary period would be the first 3 months with Toyota Manufacturing UK. You will be regularly reviewed during this time.
Back to top - Does Toyota Manufacturing UK have a shutdown period?
Yes. There will be two plant shutdowns each year (one in the summer and the other at Christmas) and you will be required to take holiday at these times

Yes, all production team members are provided with a locker.
Back to top - Will all my PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) be provided ?
Yes, Toyota Manufacturing UK will provide all the PPE that you require to enable you to perform your job safely
Back to top - What size group will I be in ?
It depends where you are placed. Some production groups are fairly small. Others can have up to 30 Members. Each group is headed by a group leader, but then split into smaller teams headed by team leaders
