Development
Your development at Toyota Manufacturing UK
We place a strong emphasis on teamwork at Toyota Manufacturing UK and while this underpins the success of our manufacturing activities, your individual contribution will be just as important. With this in mind, we'll ensure you receive training and ongoing support towards your development throughout your time with us.
During your first three months, we‘ll assess your skills in each of the following:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical systems
- Fluid power systems
- Toyota maintenance systems
You're not expected to be skilled in all of these areas and there may be some in which you have no knowledge, however the aim is to assist in tailoring a training programme for you. The training will be on the job training, which will be supported by some off the job training which will take place at our on-site technical training centre.
Our aim is for all of our maintenance team members to be multi-skilled – that's why our training is designed to enhance your existing skills, as well as build new skills. It will be a steep learning curve and your first 3 years will be spent gaining a great deal of new skills and knowledge.
Throughout your career with us, we will continue to support your development, which may even see you specialise in a piece of machinery or equipment to deepen your knowledge further.
In return for our investment, we ask that you'll be highly committed and motivated in order to put what you've learned into practice.
Promotion Opportunities
As your skills, knowledge and experience grow, you could be recognised within your occupational class by rank promotion opportunities. If you are promoted, then naturally a higher level of contribution is expected with each promotion.
At Toyota Manufacturing UK we have a flat organisation structure. Promotion is based on the availablitity of a suitable vacancy. Candidates must display consistently high performance over a number of years. Members who are considered as suitable to promote to a team leader position will be required to complete an intensive development programme which will develop their skills and allow evaluation of their suitability for the position.
