Graduate numbers are based on business requirements and do vary from year to year. Typically Toyota Manufacturing UK select 10-15 graduates per year across both Engineering and Non-Engineering Divisions.

Degree qualified business/engineering related, interest in working within the vehicle manufacturing sector, mature approach, confident, flexible, enthusiastic, team players. Prepared to use their own initiative and implement changes.

Either Burnaston, Derbyshire or Deeside, North Wales.
Back to top - Do you consider Graduates who are subject to immigration control ?
Unfortunately, we can only accept applications for our graduate development programme from candidates who are legally entitled to work in the UK. We will ask to see proof of your eligibility to work in the UK when you visit our site at the interview and presentation stage of the recruitment process. Typically, this is in the form of a UK or European Economic passport or similar supporting documentation as detailed on our application form.

Back to top - What is the starting salary for Graduates?
The current starting salary (September 2008) starts from £23,185 per annum, this is regularly reviewed during your 18 month training programme. Upon satisfactory completion of the 18 month programme your base salary will increase between £27,000 to £30,900 (depending on final placement)
Back to top - Will I be considered more favourably if I have a post grad qualification?
No, whilst we appreciate additional effort undertaken to achieve a post graduate qualification, our selection decision is based on the results of the recruitment process, which is tailored to meet our specific requirements. (achievement of 2:2 for a Degree is required).

From an early stage you will be doing a real job with real responsibility. The scheme involves a high degree of on the job training which is supported by off the job events and courses.

Yes, if you are successful at the on-line assessment, you will be invited to attend the Burnaston Plant to take part in the interview and presentation activity, at this time, there will be an opportunity to look round part of our manufacturing operation.

There is the potential for travel to Japan or anywhere within our European operations. Opportunities are based on business requirements, for the Graduate Development Programme it is likely that you will be based primarily within the UK.

Relocation support is available under certain circumstances. Your individual entitlement to this allowance would be confirmed during the recruitment process, based on a standard criteria.
Back to top - Is there support for further education/professional qualifications?
Yes, Toyota Manufacturing UK provides financial support for further education, for example CIPS, ImechE, CIPD. To be eligible you must work with Toyota Manufacturing UK for a minimum of 12 months, as we believe in the first 12 months that you will already be on a steep learning curve. Toyota Manufacturing UK will pay for your course costs upon satisfactory completion. Prior agreement with your Manger to undertake the course is required. All studies must be completed within your own time.

Core training courses include:- Plan-Do-Check-Action, Problem Solving, Report Writing, Communication & Presentation Skills, Introduction to Kaizen, Health & Safety and Personal Planning.
Back to top - Is there opportunity to experience other Departments on the programme?
Yes during your on-line training and secondment activity, also in general the nature of work at Toyota Manufacturing UK is often teamwork. You will therefore have the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary teams with members from other departments.
Back to top - How will I know how I’m doing during the Graduate Development Programme ?
You will have quarterly reviews with your Section Manager and a representative from the Learning and Development Department.
Back to top - Will I get a Supervisor/Mentor?
Yes, you will be allocated a Supervisor and Mentor from day one who will support you as you progress through the Graduate Development Programme.

The closing date for Graduate Applications will be 28 November 2008.
Back to top - What will happen on my first day?
You will attend a 5 day Company Induction with all the new Graduates, Industrial Trainees and Apprentices and then join your department for a more detailed welcome.
Back to top - What are the opportunities for career progression?
At the end of the Graduate Development Programme (subject to satisfactory progression through the assessed scheme), you will become a Specialist or Engineer. Thereafter progression is based on individual performance where you will be compared to other graduates who have joined Toyota Manufacturing UK as well as direct entry Specialists/Engineers. There are opportunities for progression but due to the high calibre of our current graduates and direct entry specialists/engineers, competition is strong.

18 months?
You will receive pay increases during your 18 month training programme which will bring you in-line with entry level for Specialists/Engineers, currently this is £27,000 to £30,900 (depending on final placement).
